Corruption Cases in Michigan

The OSI Has Pursued Nearly 50 Public Corruption Investigations, Including:

 

Juan Bueno – Oakland County District Court clerk who pled to solicitation to commit the crime of embezzlement from the court.  Defendant was convicted of solicitation to embezzle $1,000-$10,000, a five-year felony.

 

Jessica Shoemaker – Lake County Circuit Court clerk who pled no contest to embezzlement by a public officer over $50, a five-year felony.

 

Heidi Rudnick – Kalamazoo County District Court, FIA employee who received numerous collect calls from her boyfriend who was in prison.  Pled to a one-year misdemeanor embezzlement under $1000.

 

Leticia Sanchez-Rogers Ingham County, FIA employee who carried her ex-husband on her state health insurance.  Pled guilty to False Pretenses $1,000–$20,000, a five-year felony.

 

Schrenka McKinney Ingham County, former FIA employee who obtained state money by false pretenses.  Pled guilty to false pretenses between $1,000 and $20,000, a five-year felony.

 

Randy Durham Wayne County (River Rouge), election fraud.  Defendant pled guilty to two counts of marking an absentee ballot and one count of unlawful possession of an absentee ballot.

 

Zedora Miller – Ecorse City Counsel member who was convicted of improper possession of an absentee ballot and voting tampering. 

 

Angela Smith – Ecorse City Counsel member who was convicted improper possession of an absentee ballot and voting tampering. 

 

Frank Fields – A citizen of Ecorse who was charged with improper possession of an absentee ballot and voting tampering. 

 

Bobbie Baker – A citizen of Ecorse who was charged and convicted of improper possession of an absentee ballot, a five-year felony.

 

Tom Bonner – Chief of Police charged and convicted by plea of embezzlement for allowing his son to use his cellular phone for personal calls.

 

Stephen Ford Chippewa County.  District Court Judge charged with misconduct in office and criminal sexual conduct IV for unsolicited sexual advances toward a female magistrate.  Defendant pled no contest to aggravated assault, a one-year misdemeanor.

 

Brenda Guminski St. Joseph County.  Defendant was a 7th  District Court clerk who pled guilty to willful neglect of duty for removing her daughter's traffic tickets from the court system.

 

LenaGuminski St. Joseph County.  Defendant is the daughter of Defendant Brenda Guminski who encouraged her mother to delete traffic tickets on the court system.  Defendant was convicted of obstruction of justice, a five-year felony.

 

Andrew Brenner – MDOC prison guard who was charged and acquitted of misconduct in office and willful failure to uphold the law when he allegedly assaulted a prisoner.

 

Daniel Gibler – MDOC prison guard who was charged and acquitted of misconduct in office and willful failure to uphold the law when he allegedly assaulted a prisoner.

 

Christopher Burrows Oakland County, Defendant stole a state debit card from his step-father who was a state employee.  Pled guilty to four counts of stealing a financial transaction devise, each of which is a felony.

 

Diane Barnett – Former FIA employee who carried her ex-husband and adult son on her state insurance.  Pled guilty to attempted insurance fraud, a two-year felony.

 

Sharise Smith Wayne County, FIA employee who pled guilty to welfare fraud over $500, which is a felony.

 

David Hall Wayne County, Former MSP employee who pled guilty to embezzlement by a public officer over $50 dollars after he converted state property and pawned it to pay for his drug debt.

 

Mia Oliver-Edgerson Wayne County, FIA employee who falsified information in order to receive child care benefits.  Pled guilty to a felony and received diversion.

 

Barbara Pierson  Ingham County, Former DMB employee who misused a state credit card for personal benefit.  Pled guilty to a felony.
