The Early Childhood Collection of the MSDS possesses the following features:
- It has corrected an important timing issue by aligning data collection
windows with the typical initiation of district programs (October).
- District users are able to report enrollments and exits for each
individual program.
- The system is available throughout the year, allowing early childhood
program providers to update their data as needed.
- All grantee recipients are able to report data in the MSDS.
Once data has been submitted and certified, indicating that a child is
enrolled in a program, you do not need to submit a new record for him/her until
there is a change in the child's data. For example, you may need to update the
child's address or other demographic information, exit him/her from the program
when the child is no longer participating, or enroll the child in another
program or service. If there are no changes or corrections to be made to a
child's data since the last reporting period, a record may, but is not required
to, be included for that student in a subsequent Early Childhood Collection
snapshot.
Upcoming Deadlines
December 9, 2009: (November 30 snapshot) Data should be reported for
children receiving services from the beginning of the 2009-2010 early childhood
program year through November 30, 2009. Programs serving children before October
1 should include data for all children who have received services since the
beginning of the 2009-10 early childhood program year.
February 24, 2010: (February 10 snapshot) Data should be reported for all
new enrollments, changes to services and exits for children receiving services
from December 1, 2009 through February 10, 2010. If you inadvertently forgot to
report a student's data in your previous snapshot, his/her data should be
included in this snapshot.
July 14, 2010: (June 30 snapshot) Data should be reported for all new
enrollments, changes to services and exits for children receiving services from
February 11, 2010 through June 30, 2010. If you inadvertently forgot to report a
student's data in a previous snapshot, his/her data should be included in this
snapshot.
September 1, 2010: (August 25 snapshot) Data should be reported for all
new enrollments, changes to services and exits for children receiving services
from July 1, 2010 through August 25, 2010. Students who are not continuing in
the same early childhood program next year and who were not previously reported
in MSDS with program exit data must be reported with the appropriate program
exit information in this snapshot. Should your program still be serving students
in this early childhood program year but subsequent to August 25, you may report
those students' program end dates as the last date the program will be open for
this program year. MSDS will accept a future date for that particular
characteristic (field). If your early childhood programs end on or before June
30 and all your students were previously reported with exit data, then there is
nothing to report for this snapshot.
2010-2011 Programs: Students funded in the upcoming early childhood
program year will be reported in a separate subsequent MSDS Early Childhood
Collection. Snapshot and certification dates have yet to be determined. |
