Robert Haas, a teacher at Robert Scott Correctional Facility (SCF), has been selected as Correctional Education Association of Michigan Teacher of the Year. Haas will also represent Michigan at the Region III Teacher of the Year competition later this spring.
The Teacher of the Year Award was established by the Correctional Education Association to recognize and reward outstanding teaching among its membership. The annual teacher of the year is selected on the basis of verified
excellence in classroom teaching and documented professional contributions.

Haas says about his profession that, “teaching provides me with a deep satisfaction that comes from making a difference in the life of another.”
Haas has a B.A. from Wayne State University. Along with being an ABE/GED instructor, he is a school LAN administrator, pre-vocational instructor, pre-release instructor and harassment coordinator.
"We are extremely proud of Bob and his accomplishments here at Scott," said Warden Joan Yukins. "He is a dedicated educator and serves the department and the educational process well."
