How can I e-mail a prisoner?

Prisoners do not have e-mail accounts and cannot receive e-mail. Due to a variety of custody, security, and public protection issues, prisoners are not allowed access to the Internet. In accordance with departmental policy, any e-mail or faxed correspondence, unless transmitted by or on behalf of the Michigan Department of Corrections, may be destroyed upon receipt instead of being delivered to the prisoner. If the mail conveys emergency information (e.g., imminent death of family member) and the facility head authorizes delivery, it shall be delivered to the prisoner.
