| Environmental Justice Working Group |
|
The Environmental Justice Working Group was formed by Department of Environmental Quality Director Steven Chester and Department of Civil Rights Director Linda Parker to assist in developing an Environmental Justice Plan for Michigan.
Governor Jennifer M. Granholm issued Executive Directive 2007 - 23 on November 21, 2007. That Executive Directive charges the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) with developing a "state environmental justice plan" for Michigan. In undertaking that task, the DEQ is to "actively solicit public involvement" and "establish an environmental justice working group of state officials and members of the public" to assist.
This page presents information on the Working Group and progress in developing the Michigan Environmental Justice Plan.
