The Department of Environmental Quality has released the annual ambient air quality monitoring Network Review document for public comment. The Network Review is the principle tool used by staff of the DEQ's Air Quality Division to plan ambient air quality monitoring activities.
The Network Review is the result of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency revisions to ambient air monitoring rules. The report examines Michigan's ambient air monitoring network in operation during 2008-2009 and recommends changes based on monitor history, population distribution, and modifications to federal monitoring requirements under the Clean Air Act.
The 2010 Network Review document is available on the DEQ Web site at www.michigan.gov/deqair. Public comment will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. EDT on June 22. Feedback received by the DEQ will be reviewed with respect to ambient air monitoring activities to be carried out in 2009.
Comments may be submitted either electronically to heindorfm@michigan.gov, or by U.S. mail to Dr. Mary Ann Heindorf, DEQ-Air Quality Division, P.O. Box 30260, Lansing, Michigan 48909.
