Limited Grant Program

Applications for the Small Chemical Manufacturers Pollution Prevention Initiative’s Pollution Prevention Technology Demonstration Project grant are being accepted through February 4, 2002.

A limited grant program has been developed under the Small Chemical Manufacturers Pollution Prevention Initiative for a pollution prevention (P2) technology demonstration project.  The grant program was developed with assistance and direction from the initiative’s participants, with the goal of promoting the transfer of innovative P2 technologies and encouraging greater awareness of available P2 resources among the state's small chemical manufacturers.

Under the limited grant program, a total of $50,000 in funding is available for the implementation of P2 technology within a chemical manufacturing operation.  The Department of Environmental Quality will provide a matching grant to a qualified chemical manufacturing business to fund a P2 technology demonstration project that achieves measurable reductions in waste generation, enhances process efficiency, and improves overall business profitability.  The technology must be transferable and will serve as a showcase to be shared with other businesses or industries.

Any business with fewer than 500 employees within the State of Michigan and having primary business operations classified within the “Chemicals and Allied Products” Standard Industrial Classification Code are encouraged to apply for the Pollution Prevention Technology Demonstration Project grant funds.  For additional information and to obtain a Pollution Prevention Technology Demonstration Project grant application, please click on the documents below or contact David Herb at 517-241-8176.
