About Us

Three teen girls

Due to the alarming disproportionate rate of females entering the state juvenile justice system and a federal mandate, the Michigan Female Responsive Task Force, comprised of volunteers from private, public, and community organizations was established in 2000. Since that time, the task force has been responsible for the development of educational outreach materials, building community collaborations with girl-serving professionals, and presenting statewide trainings focusing on gender specific programming issues. The task force strives to educate service providers, legislators, community members, and other key stakeholders about female development and the necessity for gender responsive services.

The task force currently meets on a monthly basis to develop and implement gender responsive strategies focusing on information dissemination, statewide training, and community engagement and mobilization. We have continued to develop, coordinate, and advocate for gender responsive programming for females throughout the state of Michigan.
