Foster Home Certification and Complaint Handling Training

Requirements:

Foster Home Certification training of agency supervisors involved with child foster homes is rule required. Specifically, R 400.12305 states: "An agency shall ensure that all supervisors of social service workers who perform foster home certification functions receive certification training provided by the department". It is recommended that all agency certification workers receive the department training.

Complaint Handling training is optional but highly recommended. The handling of complaints is an area of concern for many agency certification workers. It is suggested that at least one agency supervisor attend this training every 2-3 years.

To understand the licensing process and the rules for certifying foster homes, placement supervisors and workers are encouraged to attend training sessions.

Please refer to the Registration section for specific instructions on how to register for the training sessions.
