Camp Health Officer Training - with Health Officer "Best Practices" Module

This course will provide the participant with Camp Health Officer certification. American Red Cross course elements consist of CPR for the Professional Rescuer including AED training, First Aid Responding to Emergencies, and Bloodborne Pathogens training. This course will also include additional Michigan State Licensing compliance information, med-pass information, and ACA Accreditation information! Participants are strongly encouraged to have current (or RECENTLY expired within 1 yr.) First Aid and CPR certification, as the class will move at an accelerated pace.

Canoe Instructor Development Workshop and Certification Exam (IDW/ICE)
Where: Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI
What: Instructor Development Workshop and Certification Exam for paddlers interested in being certified as ACA instructors in tandem canoe, up to and including, the Essentials of Touring level.
●To become certified as an instructor you must be at least 18 years of age and complete both the IDW and ICE. You must also be an ACA member and maintain your SEI Dues

American Red Cross CPR /First & AED
This course will train lay responders to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants. It will provide the lay responder with the knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency to help sustain life and to minimize pain and the consequences of injury or sudden illness until professional medical help arrives.
Certificates/Validity:
American Red Cross Standard First (valid for 3 years)
American Red Cross Adult, Child and Infant CPR (valid for 1 year)

The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries.

Camp Health Officer

Lifeguard Instructor
This course provides the participant with the ability to train and certify lifeguards through the American Red Cross. The pre-requisite is current lifeguard certification. Participants must be able to attend ALL hours that class is in session. Participants will need to bring sleeping bag (if staying overnight) & pillows, bathing suit, towels, toiletries, etc.
Lifeguard Training
This course provides the participant with American Red Cross Lifeguard certification including Lifeguard First Aid, AED, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. There are no pre-requisites for the course, however participants must have good swimming ability (can swim at least 500 yards), and the ability to pass both hands-on and written tests. Meals and housing are included. The class will meet from approximately 8:00am - 5:00pm each day. Participants must be able to attend ALL hours that class is in session. Participants will need to bring sleeping bag & pillows, bathing suit, towels, toiletries, etc.
CPR for the Professional Rescuer (also known as Lifeguarding CPR)
This course provides participants with the CPR/PR recertification needed to maintain current Lifeguarding or Camp Health Officer certification. The pre-requisite is previous CPR/PR certification within one year.
