Michigan Family Independence Agency (FIA) director Marianne Udow has announced the appointment of Karin Hamling of Saginaw to serve as director of the Alcona/Iosco counties FIA effective March 29, 2004.
Udow said, “Karin has shown strong leadership skills throughout her 24 years as a State of Michigan employee. I am confident that, as director of the Alcona/Iosco counties FIA, she will continue to provide quality leadership.”
Karin Hamling began her career with the Michigan Employment Security Commission in 1980 and then moved to the Saginaw County FIA in 1984 where she worked in Assistance Payments and Children’s Services. In 2000, she became Children’s Services supervisor at Bay County FIA and in 2003, she became a program manager there.
As Alcona/Iosco FIA director, Ms. Hamling will be responsible for administering federal cash assistance and food assistance programs, as well as child and adult services programs.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University and a master’s degree in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University. She is the mother of three children.
