| Chad Hitchingham |
Chad Hitchingham is the February 1998 Achiever of the Month. Chad Hitchingham and Tiara Fort are the parents of two children ages three years old and three months old. They turned to the Family Independence Agency for assistance in December, 1994. Chad’s life was moving in a downward spiral. Difficulties at home lead to difficulties at school and he ended up dropping out at the age of sixteen. Chad’s only employment history was working twelve hours per week at Dawn Donuts for a brief period of time. His Family Independence Program (FIP) case was sanctioned for his failure to comply with work requirements. His FIA case worker worked with him and just before his case was about to close he made the decision to comply. Chad’s outlook began to change and his confidence improved. He became a more positive person with goals. He was referred to the Work First Program by the FIA but just prior to starting Work First classes he found a job on his own which lead to an even better job. He works at least 60 hours a week and his FIP case closed in December, 1997.
