Kim L. Davis

DHS Achiever 111993 Things have really been coming up roses for Kim L. Davis since she was named the 1993 November Achiever of the Month.

Once a troubled teenager who dropped out of high school in the eleventh grade, ran away from home, wound up in a group foster home and eventually applied for assistance, the Jackson woman today has a full-time job as counselor/court liaison with the Juvenile Diversion Program and Runaway Services of Jackson County Probate Court.

In addition, she said that two of her children are honor roll students, the attitude of her special education son toward school has changed and his grades have improved, and all children are band members and involved with New City Resources.

Davis herself is a member of both the DSS Advisory Committee in Jackson County and the Strong Families/Safe Children Family Coordinating Council. She is also an advisory committee member of New City Resource Learning Center and is often asked to speak publicly and to serve on other committees.

She was also featured by the local newspaper in a yearly follow-up story as a result of the Achiever award. And to top it all off, she has become a first time homeowner.
