LANSING - The Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) today announced that registration is open for the inaugural Michigan Bank Directors’ College on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the Grand Traverse Resort. With the ultimate responsibility for the conduct of the bank's affairs, it's critical that bank directors stay up-to-date on emerging issues and the tools that are available to them in setting the direction and goals for their banks.
“This training will help strengthen the core of Michigan’s banks,” said OFIR Commissioner Ken Ross. “I encourage all of Michigan’s bank directors to register for this inaugural event that will reinforce their understanding of essential fiduciary and regulatory responsibilities and their ability to effectively manage their banks in this challenging environment.”
The Bank Directors’ College inaugural session was developed by OFIR and the Michigan Association of Community Bankers (MACB) and curriculum topics for the training will include:
- Legal Liability/Ethics
- Exam Preparation
- Changing Environment of Bank Regulation
To register, contact the MACB at 517-336-4430 or www.macb.org. The registration fee is $150 for the first attendee, $95 per person for 2 to 4 additional attendees from the same bank and $65 per person for over 4 additional attendees from the same bank.
The Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation is responsible for the regulation of 139 banks in Michigan.
