IMPORTANT MEMO FOR ALL Michigan Cosmetology and Barber Educators

the following changes are effective august 1, 2006

NOTE: Please make the following changes to the information that you supply to your Michigan Cosmetology and Barber students. Updated CIBs have been posted on the web at www.psiexams.com

Cosmetology, Manicurist, ELECTROLOGY, ESTHETICIAN, NATURAL HAIR CULTURIST and BARBER EXAMINATIONS

è Candidates must pass the practical portion of the examination before they can schedule to take the theory portion of the examination.

Please Note: If prior to August 1 a candidate has scheduled a Theory portion test date in August without having passed the Practical portion, they will be able to keep their appointment. If they fail however they then will need to schedule and pass the Practical portion before being able to schedule the Theory portion again.

In order to expedite the process, candidates will be able to check their Practical score the next business day at www.psiexams.com. If they receive a passing grade they will be able to immediately schedule the Theory portion. If they receive a failing grade they will be able to immediately reschedule the Practical portion.

Theory exam results will be provided to you immediately after completing the Theory examination.

Cosmetology EXAMINATION

è No models - Mannequins only

You must bring and use a mannequin head or mannequin hand (as appropriate) for all exam services. Your mannequin hand must have artificial nails serving as foundation nail beds with free edges not more than 1/2 inch in length. In addition, one fingernail must be polished. It is not necessary to purchase a mannequin hand with attached nails; you may attach the required artificial nails.

Manicurist Examination

13. Applies base coat on 3 nails only

14. Applies two coats of polish smoothly and evenly on 3 nails only

15. Applies top coat on 3 nails only

INSTRUCTORS (ALL COS RELATED) EXAMINATION

è Increase to 80 multiple choice questions (from 70)
