Trail permits are required to operate snowmobiles in the state of Michigan. More than 300 Snowmobile Association agents, statewide are selling pre-printed snowmobile permits. Permits for 2007 Season (10/1/2006 to 9/30/2007) are $25.00 and for sale from 8/1/2006 to 5/31/2007.

Designated snowmobile trails are not hard to find in Michigan. Many are managed (groomed) by local governments or clubs. Some State Parks allow snowmobiling within the parks when there is a sufficient amount of snow.
