SURFACE USE LEASE FOR METALLIC MINERAL MINING FACILITY: The DNR has reviewed the request of Kennecott Eagle Minerals Corporation for a surface use lease for a metallic mineral mining surface facility. The proposed mining operations are located on a 120-acre parcel of state forest land in the Gwinn Management Unit described as the N ½ of the NW ¼ and the SW ¼ of the NW ¼ of Section 12, T50N, R29W, Michigamme Township, Marquette County. MINING AND RECLAMATION PLAN - PURSUANT TO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES METALLIC MINERAL LEASE: Kennecott Eagle Minerals Corporation's proposed Eagle Mine occupies part of a state of Michigan metallic mineral lease. Approximately one-half of the ore body lies beneath the surface of Lease No.M 602 in the E ½ of the NW ¼ of Section 11, T50N, R29W, Michigamme Township, Marquette County. Metallic mineral leases require the lessee to submit a Mining and Reclamation Plan for approval prior to the start of any mining activities.
