Civil War Sesquicentennial Concert Series - "The Turning Point of the War, 1863"

Date:  June 01, 2013
Time:  02:00 PM - 03:30 PM
Location: State Capitol, Lansing

one of the rich legacies of the Civil War is its music.

The Friends of Michigan History, Inc., is partnering with music organizations to present a series of free performances chronicling the music of the Civil War. The series of five annual concerts—each in recognition of Civil War events that took place 150 years earlier— will highlight the music sung by, composed by or dedicated to those on both sides of the war. This year's concert commemorates the Union victories during the colossal July 1-3 struggle at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and the July 4 fall of Vicksburg, Mississippi, after a Union siege.

This event is free of charge. For more information, please send us an e‑mail.
