Whereas, Social workers use their education and experience to guide individuals, families, and communities through complex life issues and choices; and,
Whereas, Social workers connect individuals, families and communities to available resources; and,
Whereas, Social workers have demonstrated their dedication to improving society as positive and compassionate professionals; and,
Whereas, Social workers are advocates for others in ensuring everyone has access to the same basic rights, protections and opportunities; and,
Whereas, Social workers help people help themselves, whenever and wherever they need it the most; and therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 2007, as Professional Social Work Month in Michigan. I encourage all citizens to join with the National Association of Social Workers-Michigan Chapter in celebrating and recognizing social workers and their commitment and dedication to individuals, families and communities.
