Interlibrary Borrowing
The Library of Michigan borrows materials for all card holders in good standing. Every effort is made to deliver materials in a timely fashion and to avoid fees passed on to the requestor.
Interlibrary Lending
The Library of Michigan is an OCLC net lending institution (EEX) and a participant in LVIS and NEPU group sharing. We do not charge a lending fee. An IFM photocopy fee of 20 cents per page is charged after the 40th page. The Library of Michigan encourages resource sharing, and we willingly negotiate reciprocal borrowing agreements. Our goal is to share Library of Michigan resources to the greatest extent possible with libraries throughout Michigan, the U.S.A and the world.
Due to the research nature of our collections and our status as Michigan Documents repository, many Library of Michigan materials are non-circulating. Restricted collections include first copies of Michigan Documents and Michigan Collection materials, Genealogy, Reference, Law, and Periodicals. Non-circulating status is indicated for these items on the Library of Michigan's electronic catalog, ANSWER.
Michigan newspapers on microfilm circulate on short loan and must be shipped and returned via UPS or MeL Delivery. Only 2nd copy US Newspaper Project microfilms circulate out of state. Please refer to the
"Collections: Lending and Photocopy Information" below for
details on restricted collections.
