The Michigan Historical Museum System administers 12 museums and historic sites throughout the Great Lakes State. The museum system offers opportunities for full-time, part-time and seasonal employment. Full-Time Employment

Part-Time Employment
The Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing has periodic openings for college students to serve as museum education or visitor services assistants. These are Michigan Civil Service limited-term positions that assist with delivery of hands-on education programs, provide back-up support to museum docents, conduct museum tours, assist with visitor orientations, staff the museum information desk and assist with crowd control. Training is provided. Good customer service skills are mandatory. Seasonal Employment
Most of the Michigan Historical Museum System's 12 museums and historic sites offer unpaid college internship opportunities. Learn more about these by clicking "Internship Opportunities at the Michigan Historical Center" in the column at right.
Some paid positions begin in early May and extend through mid-October. Most positions work between 30 and 40 hours per week. Hours and days may vary (including weekends and holidays) according to site needs.
