The museum system offers opportunities for full-time, part-time and seasonal employment. Full-Time Employment

Full-time employment with the Michigan Historical Museum System begins with the Michigan Civil Service process. For information about the availability of these opportunities, please see the State of Michigan vacancy postings on the Michigan Department of Civil Service web site.

Part-Time Employment

The Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing has periodic openings for college students to serve as museum education or visitor services assistants. These are Michigan Civil Service limited-term positions that assist with delivery of hands-on education programs, provide back-up support to museum docents, conduct museum tours, assist with visitor orientations, staff the museum information desk and assist with crowd control. Training is provided. Good customer service skills are mandatory. To check on the availability of these positions, please see the State of Michigan vacancy postings on the Michigan Department of Civil Service web site.
