Great Lakes, Great Traditions

Michigan Week's mission is to inspire people - at the local level - to embrace, explore and celebrate the history, resources and opportunities that set Michigan apart as an ideal state to work, play and thrive.
Whether you're a lifelong resident or a newcomer to the Great Lakes State, welcome! We invite you to take part in the grand tradition of Michigan Week, an annual salute to the best Michigan has to offer.
For one week in May each year, Michigan residents are invited to celebrate all that makes our communities, our businesses, our schools and our collective heritage so very unique and worth sharing.
The local celebrations that take place around the state - from cities hosting large festivals to libraries and museums offering programs exploring community heritage to families and schoolchildren learning more about the state they call home - really are the heart of Michigan Week. On this Web page, you will find tools to help your community, your business, your family or your classroom make Michigan Week your own.
Due to limited state resources, we can no longer provide printed items such as posters or sponsor some of the state-level activities that were part of Michigan Week in previous years. We can offer some online tools to help plan your local Michigan Week celebrations and give them more of a "pure Michigan" flavor. Please browse through the following links, and if you don't find what you're looking for, feel free to contact us with questions.
More information will be added to this Web site as it becomes available, so please check back often. Add us to your online favorites: www.michigan.gov/michiganweek
