The Michigan Time Traveler is an monthly newspaper page about a
topic in Michigan history produced by Lansing Newspapers in
Education, Inc., and the Michigan Historical Center.
Teachers who subscribe to the Lansing Newspapers In Education program may elect to receive the Lansing State Journal newspaper with the "Michigan Time Traveler" page on the second Wednesday of the month. The Lansing State Journal delivers newspapers for all students in the classroom and a printed 4-page Teacher's Guide for the "Michigan Time Traveler" page. The Education Unit of the Michigan Historical Museum produces the monthly "Michigan Time Traveler" page for Lansing Newspapers in Education (NIE), Inc., and the Michigan Historical Center.
Lansing Newspapers In Education provides Lansing State Journal newspapers and supplemental teaching materials for area classrooms at little or no cost to the schools. The newspaper becomes a "living textbook," providing students with timely and relevant topics for discussion in class and at home. Reluctant readers often find a newspaper page more engaging than a textbook. Learn more about the NIE program here.
If you are interested in using the newspaper in your classroom or in sponsoring a classroom, please contact Patricia O'Hearn, NIE Manager, at (517) 377-1242.
