LANSING, April 15, 2008 - A Southfield man was "shocked" when he won a $20,002 Club Keno prize!

Owens Culpepper matched all eight numbers in his 8-spot game, plus chose the kicker. His normal $10,000 win was "kicked up" two times to $20,000. He won a $2 prize on another draw that brought him to his final total.

The regular Lottery player has no immediate plans for his prize money.

Culpepper purchased the lucky winning ticket at Shield's Restaurant, 25101 Telegraph, in Southfield.

Club Keno offers 37 different ways to play and win. Players can wager $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10 or $20 per drawing and tickets can be purchased for up to 20 drawings at a time. Players win Club Keno by matching some or all of the numbers they have selected to the numbers drawn. The more numbers matched, the more the player wins.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
