LANSING, May 1, 2008 - A very lucky USPS clerk
claimed his half of the April 23 Fantasy 5 drawing. Two winners matched
all five numbers and each won a $50,000 prize.
Nicholas Salinas of Wyoming has played the
Lottery for the last 10 years and screamed when he found out he was a big
winner. He hid the easy pick ticket in his wallet and plans to use the prize
money to pay bills and take a vacation.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Gezon Mobil
Mart, 5568 Byron Center Ave., in Wyoming.
Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven
days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery
tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state
School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year
2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in
1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in
Michigan.
