LANSING, August 11, 2008 - The Michigan Lottery's
Super Raffle tickets are now on sale!
With an entirely new level of prizes -- 10,000
prizes of $100 each -- the ticket is sure to be a quick seller. And the first
50,000 players to purchase tickets will receive $5 off the regular price of $50.
The remaining 200,000 tickets available for the game will be $50 each.
In addition to the new $100 prize level, the
Super Raffle will have two top prizes of $2 million each ($1,300,000 cash
value), 20 prizes of $100,000 and 4,000 prizes of $500.
The drawing will be on or after October 6 and the
date will be announced when the tickets are sold out.
Winning numbers will be available on the
Lottery's Web site on the afternoon of the drawing. Players will also be able to
check numbers at Lottery retailers or Lottery regional offices at that time, and
the winning numbers for the $2 million prizes will be announced during the
Lottery's broadcast the evening of the drawing at 7:29 p.m.
Winners of $2 million and $100,000 prizes will
need to make an appointment with the
Lottery's Public Relations Division to claim
their prize; $500 prizes and $100 can be claimed at any Michigan Lottery
retailer.
Super Raffle tickets will be issued in numerical
order, starting with 000001. Sales will stop when ticket number 250000 has been
sold. Players cannot choose their own numbers and numbers must be in the exact
order drawn to be winners. The tickets will be available at all Michigan Lottery
retailers with the familiar orange terminals.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery
tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state
School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year
2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in
1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in
Michigan.
