LANSING, January 24, 2006 – The Michigan Lottery is going to the dogs with the upcoming Lucky Dog instant ticket and Lottery players are invited to join in on the fun!

The Lottery will select seven dogs, whose photos are submitted via the Internet by members of the Lottery’s VIP club, Player CityTM, to be featured on the new Lucky Dog tickets.  Pet photos will be accepted until midnight Eastern Time, January 31, 2006.  The seven lucky winners will be chosen on or around February 1, 2006, by the Hon. Max Luck, mayor of Player City.  The Lucky Dog game is scheduled to launch in April 17, 2006.

To date, over 200 photos, representing a multitude of breeds, have been submitted to the site.  Nearly 30 new entries are posted to the site each day.

“The response to this contest has been terrific.  Players are having a great time participating in the creation of an actual Michigan Lottery ticket,” Lottery Commissioner Gary Peters said.  “Mayor Luck is going to have a tough decision and I don’t envy him in the least!”

To become a citizen of Player City and enter a photo, go to www.playercity.net and follow the simple registration instructions.  Membership is free.

Player City offers residents the opportunity to receive alerts about jackpots and new games, surveys and special offer coupons.  Members also accumulate “PC Points” points for various on-site activities, including participation in the Lucky Dog contest, which awards 5,000 points.  Points can then be redeemed for members-only contest entries and other activities.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
