LANSING, February 21, 2006 – A very lucky winner is
$5.9 million richer after matching all six Classic Lotto 47 numbers in the Feb. 15 drawing.
The lucky winner, who chose to remain anonymous, has been playing the Lottery since it began and enjoys the Classic Lotto 47, Mega Millions and Keno games.
The winner first saw the winning numbers on the numbers on TV during the live drawing, but didn’t realize his was the winning ticket until the next day when he called the winning numbers hotline. He plans to use the prize money to invest and purchase a new home and car.
His winning easy-pick ticket was purchased at VG’s Food Center, 710 Mill St.,
in Clio.
Classic Lotto 47 is the Michigan Lottery’s newest game, which replaced WinFall. Drawings for the game are conducted at 7:29 pm every Wednesday and Saturday night. Jackpots start at $1 million and grow by at least $100,000 each drawing.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
