LANSING, August 9, 2007 - Marlin Colburn of
Adrian was more excited when he claimed his $250,000 Mega Millions
prize than when he first realized it was a big winner.
The lucky player, who has been playing the
Lottery once a week for the past eight years, said he hid the ticket behind a
picture frame before cashing his ticket in at the Lottery office in Lansing.
The winning easy pick ticket was purchased at
7-Eleven 20862, 304 E. Beecher St., in Adrian. He plans to use the
prize money to pay off his house and car and buy a new truck.
Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in
Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey,
New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets
may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to
the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public
education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
