LANSING, May 1, 2008 - The first half of the
April 27 Fantasy 5 jackpot has been claimed. Two people matched the
numbers 02 07 12 17, and 28 and split the jackpot.
An anonymous Midland man has no immediate
plans for the $61,017 he collected as his half of the win.
The winner is a regular Lottery player who hid
the own-pick ticket in his pocket before redeeming it at Lottery Central in
Lansing. In his free time, the lucky man enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and
spending time with his grandson.
The winning ticket was purchased at Meijer
#108, 7300 Eastman Ave., in Midland.
Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven
days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery
tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state
School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year
2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in
1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in
Michigan.
