LANSING, August 14, 2008 - An anonymous St. Charles man claimed his half of the August 6 Fantasy 5 jackpot. Two people matched all five numbers and each won $55,000.

The regular Fantasy 5 and Classic Lotto 47 player was in disbelief after learning of his good fortune from a friend. He picked his own numbers based on birthdates and times. He has no immediate plans for his prize money.

The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Fast Pax Food Store #11, 143 W. Belle Ave., in St. Charles.

Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
