LANSING, May 9, 2002 – Michigan Rolldown
players continue to rake in the dough! A lucky Grand Rapids man matched
all five numbers in the April 10 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win a $17,738
jackpot prize, before taxes! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were:
8, 9, 24, 26 and 27.
In total for the April 10 drawing, 18,209 winners
shared $60,496 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 50 winners
matched four numbers to win a $145 prize; 1,735 winners matched three numbers to
win an $11 prize; and 16,423 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
The winning ticket was purchased at Party
Cooler Inc., 1001 Michigan St. NE, in Grand Rapids.
"I went to the store where I purchased the
ticket to check the winning numbers," the winner said. "I was stunned
and surprised when I learned I had a jackpot-winning ticket! I am very grateful
to have won!"
The lucky winner, who requested anonymity and
works as a production technician for Grand Rapids Metal, said he has played
Michigan Lottery games for the past 25 years, and has played the same Michigan
Rolldown number combination since October—demonstrating that persistence
really does pay off! He added that he plans to use his winnings to pay bills,
and that he enjoys body building and weight lifting in his free time.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on
February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at
7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available
at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
