LANSING, May 14, 2002 – Clyde Morency of Harrison
Township is smiling a little bigger after recently matching all five numbers
in the April 18 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win an $8,912 share of the
jackpot. He was one of two winners, and the other winner has not yet come
forward to claim his or her winnings. The winning numbers for that day’s
drawing were: 2, 15, 17, 25 and 29.
The total jackpot prize pool for the April 18
drawing was $17,824, so each jackpot winner received $8,912,
before taxes. In total for the April 18 drawing, 18,960 winners shared $60,947
in prizes. In addition to the two jackpot winners, 54 winners matched four
numbers to win a $135 prize; 1,881 winners matched three numbers to win a $10
prize; and 17,023 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
Morency purchased his winning ticket at New
Gratiot Food Center, 38120 S. Gratiot Ave., in
Clinton Township.
"When I realized I had a jackpot-winning
ticket, I couldn’t catch my breath!" Morency said.
The lucky 52-year-old, who works as an auto
technician at McInerney Cadillac, said he kept the winning ticket safely hidden
in a dresser drawer before claiming his prize at the Lottery’s regional office
in Sterling Heights. Morency, who said he enjoys boating and fishing in his free
time, said he plans to spend his winnings on a few special purchases.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on
February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at
7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available
at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
