LANSING, May 8, 2003 A Washington woman recently experienced a little lottery luck upon matching all five numbers in the May 1 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win a
$14,677 prize! That day’s winning numbers were: 1, 6, 10, 17 and 24.
In total for the May 1 drawing, 16,226 winners shared $50,223 in prizes.
In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 73 winners matched four numbers to win an $82 prize; 1,676 winners
matched three numbers to win a $9 prize; and 14,476 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
The 57-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, purchased the winning ticket
at Uptown Liquor Store, 211 E. Saint Clair St., in Romeo.
The lucky winner said she discovered she had a winning ticket after looking up
the winning numbers in the newspaper.
“I was very surprised to learn I had won a jackpot prize,” said the winner.
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at the Lottery’s regional office in
Sterling Heights, the winner said she kept it tacked to a cupboard door to ensure its safety.
The winner, who enjoys working on needlework projects in her spare time, said she chose her winning number
combination based upon the birthdates of family members, and added that she does not yet have any special
plans for her winnings.
The first Michigan Rolldown drawing was held on February 28, 2000.
Drawings
are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. The cost to play is $1.00 per wager.
Tickets are available at more
than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
