Diane Wilk of East China Wins Big Bucks With Lottery's "Cashword" Instant Game!

Contact:  Jennifer Quimby (517) 335-5648
Agency: Lottery

LANSING, April 29, 2004 – Diane Wilk of East China recently spelled her way to instant cash when she scratched off a Michigan Lottery “Cashword” instant ticket to win a $35,000 top prize!

Wilk, who works as a medical transcriptionist, purchased the winning ticket at The Garden Patch, 6005 Marine City Hwy., in Cottrellville.

“After I scratched off the ticket, I counted each word to make sure I really had won a $35,000 prize,” said Wilk.

The 58-year-old winner, who enjoys reading and playing crossword puzzles in her spare time, said she kept the winning ticket in a “safe place” prior to turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Sterling Heights.

“Cashword” is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

Since it was created in 1972, the Michigan Lottery has transferred more than $11 billion to the state School Aid Fund, which supports K-12 public education in the state of Michigan.
