LANSING, January 24, 2002 -- The Michigan Lottery
is anxiously waiting to learn the identity of Michigan’s newest Lottery
multi-millionaire. One lucky individual is holding the jackpot-winning ticket
from the Wednesday, January 23, 2002 Michigan Millions drawing.
The winning ticket was purchased at Speedway
#2329, 134 E. Michigan Ave., in Saline, at 9:40 a.m. on January 21, 2002,
for the January 23 drawing. This ticket matched all six winning numbers in that
night’s drawing: 19, 21, 23, 27, 40 and 44.
The announced jackpot for the January 23 drawing
was $4.6 million, but ticket sales for the drawing pushed the final
winning jackpot amount to $4,715,650. If the lucky Lottery player who
purchased the ticket chooses to receive his or her winnings in one lump-sum
payment, he or she will collect $2,293,491, the present cash value of the
jackpot before taxes. If, however, he or she selects annuity payments for his or
her jackpot winnings, the winner will collect approximately $157,188 per year,
before taxes, for the next 30 years.
When the winner is ready to collect his or her
winnings, he or she needs to contact the Lottery’s Public Relations division
at 517-373-1237. The jackpot winner will be required to travel to Lottery
headquarters in Lansing to collect the jackpot prize winnings.
Michigan Lottery on-line prizes are valid for a
period of one year from the draw date. Therefore, the winner has until the close
of business on Thursday, January 23, 2003 to claim his or her prize.
If Michigan Lottery prizes are not claimed within
the one-year period, they revert to the state School Aid Fund, which supports
kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. For
more information about any unclaimed Michigan Lottery prize, players can call
(517) 335-5640.
