LANSING, May 9, 2002 – Three lucky Michigan
residents, from St. Clair Shores, Dearborn Heights and Muskegon, each
matched all five numbers in the April 16 Michigan Rolldown drawing to split the
jackpot, collecting $5,922 each, before taxes! The winning numbers for
that day’s drawing were: 3, 4, 5, 14 and 30.
In total for the April 16 drawing, 19,702 winners
shared $62,097 in prizes. In addition to the three jackpot winners, 75 winners
matched four numbers to win a $97 prize; 2,179 winners matched three numbers to
win a $9 prize; and 17,445 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
Deborah Marhofer, a motorcycle enthusiast from St.
Clair Shores, is one of three lucky jackpot winners in the April 16 Rolldown
drawing. The lucky 49-year-old, who works in the warehouse and as a driver for
Elmhirst, said she and her husband, Hugh, plan to use the winnings to pay bills.
"I didn’t believe I had won when I saw the
Rolldown drawing results on the morning news," Marhofer said.
Marhofer purchased the winning Michigan Rolldown
"easy pick" ticket at Sam’s Party Shop #2 Inc., 33333 Harper
Ave., in St. Clair Shores. She said she kept the winning ticket in her
pocket at all times to ensure its safety before turning it in at the Lottery’s
regional office in Sterling Heights.
Dorothy Smith of Dearborn Heights, a
retired medical receptionist, was the second lucky winner in the April 16
Rolldown drawing. The lucky 71-year-old lady said she was very surprised when
she learned the winning numbers drawn on television matched the numbers on her
ticket!
The winner purchased the winning Michigan
Rolldown "easy pick" ticket at Super Kmart #4059, 21111 Van Born
Road, in Taylor. She said she kept the winning ticket on top of her
television before turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Dearborn
Heights. Smith, who enjoys reading in her free time, said she plans to use her
winnings to pay bills.
The third jackpot winner in the April 16 Rolldown
drawing was Mahender Grewal of Muskegon. The lucky 45-year-old purchased
the winning Michigan Rolldown "easy pick" ticket at Miti Mini
Superette, 1210 Giddings Ave. SE, in Grand Rapids. Grewal said he does not
yet have any special plans for his winnings.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on
February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at
7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at more
than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
