LANSING, May 11, 2001 – Debra Edwards of Toledo, Ohio was in disbelief when she learned she had matched the first five numbers in the April 27 Big Game drawing to win a $150,000 prize! That day’s winning numbers were: 3, 6, 30, 38, 44, and the Big Money Ball number was 12.
Edwards, 42, purchased the winning Big Game ticket at Matthew’s Liquor, 6400 Summit St., in Erie.
"I saw the winning numbers in the Toledo Blade," the winner said. "I had no idea what the ticket was worth, so I went to the store to have the ticket verified. I was shocked and in disbelief that I’d won. The store owner was even more excited than I was!"
Prior to turning the winning "easy-pick" ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the lucky lady, who enjoys attending car shows in her spare time, said she kept it in a safe place in her house.
Edwards, who works as an office supervisor at J.C. Penney Co., Inc., said she plans to pay bills and buy a new car with her winnings.
The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is Friday, May 11, with an expected jackpot of $7 million.
