LANSING, January 27, 1999 – Barbara Rose of Grand Ledge received a most unexpected gift recently; she won a $10,000 prize in the Michigan Lottery’s "$1,000,000 Gift" instant game!

The 67-year-old winner purchased the winning ticket at Wacousta General Store, 13051 Wacousta Road, in Grand Ledge.

"I scratched off everything on the ticket except Game 4 and forgot about it after seeing that I had won the $10,000 prize," Rose said.  "I was in total shock!  I had one of my co-workers look at the ticket to verify that I had really won!  The ticket I bought was the first 1,000,000 Gift ticket that the store sold."

Rose said she has been playing Michigan Lottery instant games since they were first introduced.  Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing, she hid it somewhere in her home where her "cat couldn’t get at it."  Rose said she has no immediate plans for her winnings.
