There is help available for family caregivers.
More than 7 of 10 people with Alzheimer's disease live at home. Almost 75% of their care is provided by family and friends, the remainder of in-home care being "paid" care. Paid care averages $12,500 per year. Again, most of paid care is covered by families. When family members are available to supervise and assist with in-home care, a person with Alzheimer's disease is more likely to remain in his or her own home longer.
