(List of MDA Programs)

The Michigan Department of Agriculture provides licensing, certification and inspection services to over 72 license types. In addition, the department works to protect Michigan's environment, attract new businesses to our state and make sure consumers are protected from fraud by ensuring that:

food you buy at your local grocery store is safe;
trees and flowers you plant are healthy and pest free;
schools and public buildings are free of pests;
pets you buy at the pet shop are properly cared for and the food you feed them is safe;
purity of gasoline you buy;
consumer gets what they pay for at the retail store or gasoline pump.

The Department provides marketing and economic development services, environmental and farming resources as well as information about Michigan's wine industry, Michigan State and County fairs, pari-mutuel Racing and others.

Michigan consumers can find helpful recipes and learn more about food safety in the Select Michigan Marketplace section of this Web Site and use the look up feature in the Licensing Section to find a licensed Agriculture business.
