Michigan Livestock Premises Registration

The NAIS is a national program intended to identify all agricultural animals and track them as they come into contact with, or are intermixed with, animals other than herdmates from their premises of origin. This is being developed for animal industries that will benefit from having a system that will facilitate rapid tracing in the event of a disease concern. Currently, working groups are developing plans for camelids (llamas and alpacas), cattle and bison, cervids (deer and elk), equine, goats, poultry, sheep, and swine. Already, many species in U.S. animal industries can be identified through some sort of identification system. If you would like to register your premises, you may register online, below, or contact MDA at 1-866-870-5136.
