Petoskey Chiropractor Has License Summarily Suspended

Contact:  James McCurtis, Jr. (517) 241-2112
Agency: Community Health

March 17, 2008

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the chiropractic license of William Davis McCullough, D.C., based on his felony convictions in the 57th Judicial Circuit Court, Emmet County, Michigan.

On October 16, 2007, McCullough was convicted of one felony count of attempted health care fraud-false claim, and one felony count of health care fraud-conspiracy. As a result, McCullough was sentenced to serve nine months in jail, placed on probation for a period of 36 months with terms and ordered to pay $37,768.27 in fines, costs, and fees. On March 5, 2008, MDCH issued an order immediately suspending McCullough's license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional's license upon the conviction of a felony. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of McCullough's chiropractic license.
