Michigan Pandemic Influenza Summit

The State of Michigan, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, convened a Michigan Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Summit on April 25, 2006 in Detroit, Michigan.  The focus of the Summit was how to prepare locally for a pandemic, which by definition is global in its reach.  Under the leadership of Janet Olszewski, Director of the Michigan Department of Community Health, the Michigan Pandemic Influenza Summit brought state, federal, local, and community leaders together to continue their preparations for the possibility of a pandemic flu event.

While the challenge of preparing for a pandemic is daunting, events such as this are critical to ensure that federal, state, and local resources are aligned to react to this potential threat.  More than 500 representatives from public and private organizations gathered to learn about national, state, and local preparations for an influenza pandemic.
