What's New in the Bureau of Laboratories


Expanded Newborn Screening Menu

The MDCH Newborn Screening Laboratory has been conducting a pilot project to evaluate screening for additional disorders from tandem mass spectrometry since April 18, 2005. The new disorders are on a list commissioned by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and developed by Medical Genetics in 2005. Click here for more information.     Click here for the complete list of disorders now being screened.

New Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)

In October 2005, the MDCH Bureau of Laboratories and seven of its Regional Laboratory afffiliates began working toward replacing their existing laboratory information management system (LIMS) with a new LIMS, named StarLims.  Click here for more information.
