Effective July 1, 2009, FSA debit cards will work only at pharmacies or retail locations that have implemented a certified Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS). The IRS is requiring the implementation of this new technology. The new IIAS technology allows FSA eligible items to be recognized and approved for purchase at checkout at retail locations.
You may verify if your preferred merchant is IIAS certified by checking the Participating Merchant List at https://www.adpcobrafsa.com/pdfs/IIAS_Merchants.pdf. If your pharmacy or retailer is not listed, your debit card will not be accepted and you will need to pay for your eligible items and seek reimbursement through ADP. You may continue to use your card at qualified healthcare providers (doctors, dentists, hospitals, etc). It is important to remember that receipts may be required for debit card purchases.
