Voluntary Benefits (Active Employee)

Be protected, be wise, be safe, be proactive, be carefree, be you.

Benefits for Life Optional Coverage Program

Benefits for Life, the employee-paid, optional coverage program offered through the State of Michigan is designed to help you be safe, be protected and be prepared.

The program offers you the opportunity to apply for coverage in key benefit areas and continue that coverage should you change jobs or retire.
Benefits for Life Enrollment. June 1st thru June 9th, 2009. Click here for details.

The Benefits for Life offerings do not replace your State-sponsored benefit plans. Instead, the program offers additional financial protection with premiums payable through the convenience of payroll deduction. Because the plans are voluntary, you can customize your coverage by choosing from a range of plans that offer a combination of benefits and features that can help meet your personal and family insurance needs.

Coverage Options

The optional coverage plans include:

Discount Plan
The Discount Plan provides exclusive discounts from thousands of local and national merchants.

Legal Plan                                                                                        The legal plan provides access to a network of attorneys-over the phone or in person-for many common legal issues.

Supplemental Term Life Insurance
Supplemental Term Life insurance serves as a foundation of financial protection that pays a lump sum benefit in the event of death. A variety of flexible policy features are also available.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)
AD&D provides financial assistance with the burden that can result from a serious accident.

Universal Life Insurance
Universal Life insurance pays a lump sum benefit in the event of death and builds cash value that can help with other financial needs. It includes a variety of policy features such as a long-term care benefit which provides a monthly benefit for a medically necessary stay in a qualified long term care facility or assisted living facility, medically necessary home health care, and adult day care services.

Critical Illness Insurance
Critical Illness insurance provides a lump-sum cash benefit upon the first diagnosis of a covered critical illness, including cancer.

Auto and Home Insurance
This benefit provides an exclusive discount on already competitive rates for auto and homeowners insurance.

Key Features of Benefits for Life
