Where Do I Take the MME?

  • Public school students - Test at your own high school. You may not test anywhere else. Contact your school's Guidance Office for details.
  • Nonpublic school students
    • If your nonpublic school offers the MME, test at your own school. You may not test anywhere else. Contact your school's Guidance Office for details.
    • If your nonpublic school does NOT offer the MME, you may test at an MME Auxiliary Test Center (see below for registration information). You may not test anywhere else.
  • Home School students - Test at the public high school you would attend if you were not home-schooled. You may not test anywhere else. According to Michigan law (Public Act 521 of 2002, Section 104a (13)), the public school district in which you reside is required to offer you the MME. But it is YOUR responsibility to contact them in a timely manner. Do not wait... contact the school's Guidance Office no later than January.
  • Out-of-State students - Michigan residents who attend high school outside Michigan are considered to be nonpublic school students (for example, you live in Michigan near the Ohio border so you attend high school in Toledo). You may test at an MME Auxiliary Test Center only (see below for registration information). You may not test anywhere else.
  • Military - If you are a Michigan resident, but live outside Michigan because your mother or father is a member of the US military assigned to active duty outside Michigan, please contact us for special information about taking the MME. Do not wait... contact us no later than January.

MME Auxiliary Test Centers are established and operated by ACT, Inc. for nonpublic high school students whose own schools choose not to offer the Michigan Merit Examination (MME). To register, see below. Postmark deadlines for registration are strictly enforced. For more information about MME Auxiliary Test Centers, call ACT toll-free 800-553-6244, Extension 2800.
