Improving Outcomes for High School Students

High School Bill SigningTo ensure Michigan's students have the skills and knowledge needed for the jobs of the 21st Century global economy, on April 20, 2006, Governor Jennifer M. Granholm signed into law a rigorous new set of statewide graduation requirements that are among the best in the nation. (MCL 380.1278a, MCL 380.1278b)

This law is a result of an extraordinary partnership between the Executive Branch, State Board of Education, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Legislature and numerous education associations who worked together to better prepare students for greater success and to secure the economic future of our state.
