About the Office of Administrative Law The mission of the Office of Administrative Law is to conduct the administrative appeal hearings for the Michigan Department of Education in cases involving teacher tenure, property transfer, financial audits, child nutrition programs, teacher certification revocation and denials, driver training instructor appeals, and nonpublic school compliance and to administer selection and training for special education hearing officers. It also serves as the coordinating office for positions on federal legislation, communications with the U.S. Congress and federal agencies, and joint efforts with national organizations and other states.
